Bees and apples: An inseparable partnership

The close link between bees and apple cultivation has been known for centuries. Bees play a crucial role in pollinating apple blossoms and thus make a significant contribution to crop yields. VOG Products recognizes this importance and is therefore actively committed to the protection and promotion of bees.

The bee meadow on the Sonnenberg in Kortsch

The bee meadow on the Sonnenberg in Kortsch is a lighthouse project in this area. On an area of around half a hectare, bee-friendly plants such as lime trees, chestnuts, birches, and hazelnut bushes have been planted. These plants offer the bees a sufficient supply of pollen and nectar during the lean period between apple blossom and the relocation of the beehives to higher altitudes.

A community project

The bee meadow on the Sonnenberg in Kortsch is a community project spearheaded by VIP, the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Producers of Venosta Valley, and VOG Products. In addition to these two organizations, numerous others have also been involved, including the Kortsch Farmers' Cooperative, the Kortsch B.N.R. Self-Administration, the Kortsch Sports Association, the Schlanders Forestry Inspectorate, and the South Tyrolean Beekeeping Association - Kortsch Local Group.

Cooperation for a healthy environment

The bee meadow on the Sonnenberg in Kortsch is a successful example of cooperation between different actors. The joint commitment has created a valuable habitat for bees. The initiative not only promotes bee protection but also contributes to the preservation of biodiversity and the improvement of the quality of life in the region.

VOG Products and sustainability

The commitment to the bee meadow on the Sonnenberg in Kortsch is an expression of VOG Products' comprehensive sustainability approach. We are committed to an ecologically and economically responsible apple production.
