Always focused on new goals

Hannes Egger is a mountaineer and "optimiser" in the company.

Hannes Egger lives in Jenesien. But he is at home in the mountains. When he goes ski touring or on high altitude tours to the most beautiful peaks in the Alps, he feels that sense of freedom that is so important to him. And he can set himself goals there - that can be a peak or a tempting descent.

Hannes' passion for mountains can be transferred to his everyday work to some extent. As part of the plant management team at VOG Products, the 25-year-old is responsible for quality improvement and process optimisation. In his work, he also sets himself goals that drive him. He is also motivated by the fact that work is characterised by trust and that he has the freedom to choose his own direction, tools and pace. Because the "Direttissima" or most direct way is not always the fastest and best way to reach the goal. "Sometimes you have to try out a bit longer to find the right solution," says Hannes.

Hannes Egger has been part of the VOG Products team since the beginning of 2022. Actually, he is already an "old hand", although this description does not fit his young age. But the sport native, who is also an enthusiastic hobby cook, already worked for the company between 2015 and 2018. At that time, he came straight from the technical school for agriculture and had been contacted by VOG Products as a graduate in production and processing. Hannes worked in the area "liquid" and was involved in the analysis, filtration and pasteurisation of the products, but decided to study for a degree after about three years. He initially enrolled in the beverage technology course at the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences, and later switched to viticulture and oenology.

The fact that Hannes has now come back to the apple processing is due in part to a friend and now colleague who brought him into the plant management of VOG Products at the beginning of 2022. Hannes now especially appreciates the diversity of his areas of responsibility and the fact that he is confronted with a wide variety of simultaneous challenges every day. "I question processes in the company in order to find ways to increase efficiency or make savings. Or I deal directly with a product that can be improved, for example by changing a process,” says Hannes describing his work. Among other things, he is in contact with companies in the area of plant construction, for example to weigh up possible investments that could optimise production. But he is also in the laboratory to conduct tests with various products and analyse the results with regards to quality improvement. Last but not least, Hannes Egger investigates possible sources of errors when customers complain. These can often be tiny details on machines, which he locates through tests. "That's why I also have to know how to operate the systems."

He likes this constant variety and the contact with employees in all departments, even if tricky questions at times mean overtime. Hannes Egger is in charge of several projects at the same time, because there is always a need for process and quality optimisations. VOG Products is constantly striving for improvements which means that Hannes, the "optimiser", never runs out of work. Somehow he feels the whole thing is like climbing a peak: After a lot of effort, you reach the top, proud of what you've achieved, look out towards the horizon and discover the next project already in the sight.
